Manu

After Manu’s mother died of cancer, she had to work and live in the brick factory with her family, an extremely adverse environment. Her father is uneducated and had very unstable income. He was unable to take care of so many children. Manu, being the eldest sister, needed to take care of her younger brothers. She had no chance to go to school but had to work very hard all day and do house chores.

Arpana

Arpana was severely abused by her step mother. She was also forced to do work that was out of her ability. She was not given enough food, leave alone any education. Arpana also suffered from the poor living condition in the brick factory. During one of our visits, we found her seriously sick and unattended. So, we rescued her from the factory. Arpana has an older brother, Ashim Lama, who was also admitted to the children’s home.

Siksha

Siksha’s family is big and poor. They live in a very remote part of Nepal. Her father sought help from others but instead of sending her to school, they sent her to a monk hostel and made her a monk. Sometimes she had to go from house to house to beg for food, which made her feel shameful. Two years later, her father found out the truth and came to the children’s home and asked for help in tears.
